GUIDE DEVICE FOR THE BLIND

The proposed guide device for the blind comprises spectacles whose lenses are made of an optically transparent substance and comprise an inner (2) and an outer (3) section which form a closed cavity. A masking layer (6) is applied to the inner surfaces of the two sections. An electromagnetic emitter (7), such as an LED, and a transmitter unit (9) are mounted in one of the closed cavities and are secured on the inner surface of the outer section (2) above a masking layer (6). In the other closed cavity, on the inner surface of the outer section (2) and above the masking layer (6), there is an electromagnetic radiation receiver (11) such as a photodiode, a receiver unit (14) and a signalling unit (15) in the form of an electro-acoustic converter. The masking layer is made of a substance which absorbs electromagnetic radiation. Windows (10, 13) transparent to electromagnetic radiation are provided in the masking layer (6) of the outer sections (2) opposite, respectively, the emitter (7) and the receiver (11); those windows are provided with focusing elements (19, 20) in the form of Fresnel lense holograms. A threshold unit is connected to the output of the receiver assembly (14); the said unit's reference input is connected to the transmitter assembly (9). The transmitter and receiver assemblies (9, 14) are designed as a primary and secondary microcircuit respectively and are connected to the power source (24) accommodated in a separate housing. The masking layer (6) can take the form of a multi-positional hologram of the eye and surrounding area.
