Method for measuring vibrations in which a signal which comes from a sensor 13 is processed and derived and integrated by time utilizing electronic 14 or mechanical apparatus to obtain weighted maximum values of different degrees. Already known methods are limited to the use of such time derivatives and time integrals which have a degree which is a whole number, when effect values are created. However, in certain cases a completely incorrect result is obtained, when the condition of the machine is determined. In the method according to this invention these difficulties are solved by the use of weighted effect values of the general time derivatives of displacements and of the general time integrals of displacements, which have a degree which is other than a whole number. <IMAGE>
