FIELD: bullets of small arms. SUBSTANCE: bullet has envelope, steel slug and a lead jacket. The bullet design parameters correlate as follows: bullet length - 4.4 to 4.5 bullet calibres; bullet head length - 2.6 to 2.8 bullet calibres; distance from bullet center of mass to its end face - 41 to 42% of entire bullet length. The slug shape provides for its manufacture by the method of cold stamping from medium-carbon steel with subsequent heat treatment. The offered bullet can be put in series production and used in a standard 7.62-mm rifle complex. EFFECT: improved exterior ballistic characteristics and enhanced piercing effect of bullet due to selection of geometric parameters.
