摘要 FIELD: agriculture and food-processing industry. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has cellular drum 1 formed as spring and mounted on drive shaft 2. Drum cells are formed as alternating conjugated semi-helical grooves 3 and semi-cylindrical grooves 4 defined by spring coils. Bottoms 5 are mounted along semi-spiral grooves. Semi-cylindrical grooves are spring-loaded and free of bottoms and their cross section h may be increased. When drum 1 is driven for rotation, root tubers fall into grooves, are lifted by grooves for a certain height, slide or roll down and are simultaneously advanced along cylinder. While moving along semi-spiral groove, root tubers come into contact one with the other to block each other so that they do not roll and slide downward. When lower root tuber enters semi-cylindrical groove, it rolls down along the groove while being subjected to inspection by optoelectronic system. In case irregular (decayed or crushed) tuber is detected, optoelectronic system generates signal to initiate tuber pusher to automatically push this tuber down through spring-loaded groove. Sound tubers are directed along drum and discharged through chute. EFFECT: increased efficiency, improved quality of roots and wider operational capabilities. 3 dwg
