Dental treatment instrument with illumination device

The dental instrument has a driven work-tool (3) connected to a cooling medium under pressure via a lead. The instrument also includes an illumination device including an optical waveguide. The end of the waveguide has an optical output window (9). A pair of jets (7,8; 10,12) connected to a rinsing medium are directed towards the optical output window and/or the work-tool tip. This not only keeps the tip clean but also allows continuous viewing of the area under investigation or treatment.
