This invention discloses a steel refining process in a casting ladle, utilizing solid granules or briquets made of recycled LMF dross and raw materials for the production of a desulphurizing addition, a dross conditioner or refining synthetic dross. The preferred recycled LMF dross material generally comprises from about 35 percent to about 65 percent of CaO; from about 10 percent to about 35 percent of Al2O3; from about 1 percent to about 10 percent of SiO2; from about 3 percent to about 15 percent of MgO; from about 0.3 percent to about 10 percent of FeO; from about 0.1 percent to about 5 percent of MnO; from about 0 percent to about 0.5 percent of P2O5; and from about 0.1 percent to about 0.5 percent of S. The refining additive for casting ladle comprises from about 10 percent to about 90 percent of metallurgy furnace casting ladle recycled dross, and the remaining raw materials are chosen from the group consisting of: a calcium oxide, anhydrous sodic carbonate, fluorspar, borax, calcium carbonate source, aluminum, calcium aluminate source, alumina, metallic calcium, magnesium, sodium source, and magnesium and sodium oxides, fluorides and carbides, and mixtures thereof.
|
