A circuit of generating synchronous signal in a monitor includes a synchronous signal separating means for separating a first horizontal synchronous signal and vertical synchronous signal from an input composite synchronous signal, and a horizontal synchronous signal generating means for removing the first horizontal synchronous signal adjacent to the vertical synchronous signal generated by the synchronous signal separating means and generating a second horizontal synchronous signal. The new horizontal synchronous signal generating means includes a monostable multivibrator for generating the new horizontal synchronous signal according to the composite synchronous signal and vertical synchronous signal outputted from the signal separating means, resistor and condenser for determining the width of the new horizontal synchronous signal. Accordingly, distortion at the upper portion of picture, generated by phase difference between the vertical synchronous signal and its neighboring horizontal synchronous signal, thereby improving the picture quality.
