A token is provided for use in releasing lock mechanisms, with the token being releasably attachable to a keyring or the like. The token comprises a generally flat body having a generally radial slot communicating with the rim of the token. The slot extends transversely through the token, and defines releasable retainer means. The slot may incorporate a narrowed neck portion to releasably retain the token to the keyring, with biasing means to permit the neck to be widened to permit passage of a keyring or the like through the neck into an interior portion of the slot and to subsequently retain the keyring within the interior of the slot. The biasing means may be provided by the resilient flex of the token itself. The engagement means may also be incorporated into the head of a key to provide a key that is releasably retainable to a keyring or the like.
