The present invention relates to an overflow for a building which exhibits a waste pipe (3) extending through a floor, comprising at least one evacuation opening (4) which is intended to be located in the floor area and is connected to the bore of the waste pipe to enable the runoff of water from the floor through the waste pipe by the intermediary of an odour trap (12). The overflow has the form of an attachment designed with an upper inlet end (6) and a lower outlet end (5), which is insertable by its outlet end into a downwardly extending lower waste pipe (3) terminating at or close to floor level, and which is connectable by its inlet end to an upwardly extending upper waste pipe (7) terminating above floor level. The attachment exhibits both a drainage passage (9) extending between the inlet end and the outlet end and connecting the upper waste pipe (7) with the lower waste pipe (3), and an evacuation passage (11) extending between the evacuation opening (4) and the outlet end. The overflow has an odour trap (12) in at least said evacuation passage (11).
