Distillation appts. (10) has a heat exchanger (10) for cooling a mixt. e.g. air to a temp. suitable for its rectification. There is at least one distillation column (12). A containment e.g. sleeve (20) contains the exchanger (10) and the column (12). There is a suspension mechanism for suspending the heat exchanger (10) and distillation column (12) within a top region of the sleeve (20), such that the column (12) assumes a vertical orientation under the influence of gravitational force. Pref. the containment is a sleeve (20) with a top mounting flange capping the top region. Distillation column (12) is located below the heat exchanger (10) in an in-line relationship. Pref. the suspension suspends at least the heat exchanger (10) from the top mounting flange. |
