[1] Provided is a water-based ink comprising: pigment-containing water-insoluble polymer particles A; water-insoluble vinyl-based polymer particles B; and an organic solvent C. The water-insoluble polymer particles A are obtained by crosslinking; the water-insoluble polymer particles B are one or more type of water-insoluble polymer particles selected from water-insoluble vinyl-based polymer particles or the like; and the organic solvent C comprises one or more type of organic solvent selected from diethylene glycol monobutyl ether and diethylene glycol monoisobutyl ether, and propylene glycol, the total amount of diethylene glycol monobutyl ether and diethylene glycol monoisobutyl ether being 0.8 mass% or more, the content of organic solvent having a boiling point of greater than 250°C being 5 mass% or less, and the content of water being 45 mass% or more. [2] Further provided is and an ink jet recording method for recording on a recording medium using the water-based ink described above. This water-based ink has excellent long-term storage stability and discharge stability during inkjet recording, and allows well-balanced improvement in image quality on non-water absorbing recording media, rubfastness, water resistance, solvent resistance and substrate adhesion, at high levels. |
