After recognising the peculiarities of the combination of the capillary intake properties of superabsorptive powders, it is possible to obtain some powders which provide both very high non-aqueous liquid absorption and the excellent mechanical properties of corresponding gels by mixing powders which each offer one of these characteristics at the highest level. This invention is useful for hygiene products in the form of ultra-thin pads.
