Isolated plant protein (A) is expressed specifically in seeds. It contains /- 1 18-25 kDa unit and appears during the pre-germination (priming) stage. Also claimed are: (1) proteins (B) equivalent to (A); (2) mono- and poly-clonal antibodies (Ab) that recognise /- 1 epitope on (A) or (B), and (3) molecular probes (protein or nucleic acid) derived from (A) or (B), or nucleic acid encoding them, or from Ab.
