FIELD: powder metallurgy; applicable in manufacture of combined articles, bimetallic plain bearings, filtering tubular members with different properties of layers, etc. SUBSTANCE: the offered method consists in that during manufacture of blank, it is provided with protrusions of special shape, and in course of molding of powder layer, protrusions on blank surface are deformed so that they confine the layer from end faces. The offered method is realized as follows. Blank with protrusions is placed into die. Filled between internal surfaces of blank and rigid central rod is powder which is compacted by punches. At the end of compaction cycle, protrusions are deformed so that their material flows in direction of central rod, and, in this way, confines pressed layer from end faces. After heat treatment, layer is finely compacted in radial direction by tool with conical working surface. EFFECT: higher strength of adhesion of layer with base and strength of whole combined articles. 2 cl, 5 dwge
