Water-soluble builder substances partially or totally replace zeolite in washing or cleaning agents. They should above all be suitable for production and use with extruded and granulated washing or cleaning agents. For that purpose, amorphous alkaline silicates are used with a secondary detergent power and a molar ratio between M2O and SiO2 (M being an alkaline metal) from 1:1.5 and 1:3.3. These amorphous alkaline silicates have at least 300 g/l apparent density and are impregnated with active ingredients of washing or cleaning agents, in particular non-ionic surfactants.
