FIELD: refractory materials. SUBSTANCE: mass useful when lining steel and cast iron ladles, in chamotte laying of heating furnaces, and when assembling sprue systems and runner refractories contains 80 wt % of chamotte, the rest being binding agent in the form of 1:1 mixtures of high- and low-plasticity clays. As binding agent, clay mixture is used containing kaolin clay with linear shrinkage lower than 5% and shale clay with linear shrinkage above 8%. Chamotte fraction is used with particle size no higher than 3 mm and clay as fraction no higher than 2 mm. Refractory mass enables increasing heat resistance and strength of products by a factor of 2. EFFECT: improved characteristic s of products. 3 cl, 1 tbl
