The invention relates to an emulsifier-free concentrate or agent (composition), which can be diluted with water, for the preservation of wood and wood materials (timber products). It is composed of specific amounts by weight of an organic chemical solvent, of a fungicide which is soluble in the organic chemical solvent or in an alkyd resin, of an insecticide which is soluble in the organic chemical solvent or in an alkyd resin, of a water-soluble alkyd resin of a specific composition, and, if appropriate, additionally organic colorants, inorganic pigments or desiccants.
