A structure is terminated with a flange. Structure is terminated with a flange. The flanges abut with their contact surface normal to the centre line of the structures. The axis of the securing bolt intersects the centre line of the structures at an oblique angle. The plane of contact surface may be at an oblique angle to the alignment of the two structures. The axis of the bolt again intersects the centre line of the structures at an oblique angle but may then be normal to the - skewed - contact surface.
