An interface module is disclosed for interchange points in telecommunications and data networks. The object of the invention is to develop an interface module of a generic type which defines clear responsibility areas, safely separates these areas from one another, and ensures that only those persons with respective authorization have access to the respective areas. This is achieved b y providing two mutually-separate responsibility areas I, II, which are protected against unauthorized access from one to the other, each responsibility area I, II having at least one termination and at least one tap.
