Apparatus and method for defoaming liquid with ultrasonic wave in order to eliminate foam or bubble from the liquid, provided with a ultrasonic wave liquid tank (9), a defoaming tank (8), and a ultrasonic oscillator (13) for irradiating ultrasonic wave through the ultrasonic wave transmitting liquid (14) to the defoaming tank (8); at least a part of the defoaming tank (8) is immersed in the ultrasonic wave transmitting liquid (14) in the ultrasonic wave liquid tank (9), and the degree of unsaturation of dissolved air in the ultrasonic wave transmitting liquid (14) under defoaming operation is not lower than 10%. <IMAGE>
