Method of treating brain ischaemia, stroke, head or spinal trauma injury, neuro-trauma, neurodegenerative disorders, neurotoxic injury, or preventing nerve damage by admin. of R(+)-N-propargyl-1-aminoindan (R-PAI), or its salt, is new. The salts are pref. esylate, sulphate, hydrochloride, and partic. mesylate.
