2,4-Dihydro-3H-1,2,4-triazol-3-ones of formula (I), their enantiomers and racemic mixtures are new. R1 = 1-4C alkyl, R2 = H or RaORb-, Ra = 1-4C alkyl, Rb = 1-4C alkylene, R3 = 1-6C alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, fluoroalkyl, hydroxy fluoroalkyl, phenyl, or phenyl substituted by halogen or methylene dioxy, except for those compounds in which, simultaneously, R3 = 1-4C alkyl, R2 = H, R1 = 2- 4C alkyl. Intermediates of formula (II) are also claimed per se.
