PURPOSE:To stably obtain the subject compounds in a high yield by specifying the catalyst concentration in a reaction solution and the weight ratio of the catalyst to alcohol in supplying acetylene and alcohol to a system containing a solvent, an alkali metal alcoholate catalyst and alcohol. CONSTITUTION:In production of an alkyl vinyl ether industrially useful as a raw material of functional polymers, medical drugs, etc., while supplying acetylene and alcohol to a system containing a solvent, an alkali metal alcoholate catalyst and alcohol, the concentration of the above-mentioned catalyst in the reaction solution and the weight ratio of the above-mentioned catalyst to alcohol are respectively specified to >=10wt.%, preferably >=15wt.% and within a range of 0.75-3.5, preferably 1.0-2.0. The objective compound can be obtained with industrial advantage thereby under a pressure condition (preferably 0.7-2kg/cm<2>G, especially 1.5-1.9kg/cm<2>G) advantageous from a standpoint of security by using a simple apparatus capable of ready operation. In addition, the reaction temperature is preferably 110-130 deg.C so that generation of by- products as the main cause of reduction of the catalyst life may be inhibited. |
