The box spring frame (5) contains a slot for receiving an edge of the upholstery material (12), secured inside the slot by a strip. The frame supports a number of springs (8), on top of which is a plastic layer (10), whilst a further plastic layer (9) is supported against the frame, extending at right angles to it. The plastic layers are held in place by the upholstery material, the edges of which are joined to the frame. An Independent claim is also included for the aluminium profile (4) used to form the box spring frame.
