A pipe connection comprises a primary pipe (3) with a threaded section, a secondary pipe (2), and a nut (10) which can be screwed onto an external thread (31) on the primary pipe. A sealing ring (40) is located between the end faces of the two pipe sections. When the nut is tightened, angled surfaces of the secondary pipe end face locate over angled surfaces of the primary pipe end face which surround the U- or V-shaped slot housing the seal, so the pipe sections are in alignment and cannot be displaced axially. When the nut is tight the secondary pipe end face presses against the seal.
