The brake pedal (2) has a foot plate (4) which is generally in an initial position and can be moved to an operating position by foot force, at least one mechanical component (6) which is deformed under foot pressure and which readopts its original shape when the foot pressure is removed, thereby restoring the foot plate to its initial position.
