The invention relates to an implant for implantation in the tongue, comprising a fixing component for fixing purposes and/or support on the hyoid and/or on and/or in tissue located to the side of the tongue. The inventive implant also comprises a supporting element which extends from the fixing component at the base of the tongue in an at least partial manner perpendicular to the direction of the tongue. Said implant is used for implantation in the base of the tongue to prevent the base of the tongue from falling back against the posterior wall of the pharynx in the case of sleep apnoe without impairing deglutition to a substantial extent.
