Antigenic structure useful in immunoassays and for monoclonal antibody protection - prepared by reacting amino-functional support with aldehyde

Antigenic structure comprises a protein coupled to a support through an amino-imino-alkylene bridge formed by covalent bonding between an aldehyde and free amino groups on the support. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an antigenic structure stated to be as above but being of formula S-N=CH-A-R (I): (2) production of the antigenic structure by reacting a compound containing at least one aldehyde function with a support having at least one amino group; (3) monoclonal antibodies directed against the amino-imino-alkylene bridge. S = support; A = a group derived from an aldehyde; R = H or -CH=N-P; P = the residue of a molecule containing an amino group, e.g. a protein or amino acid.
