The subsystem (TL1,..TLn) generates a reference signal (RS1,...RS4). A detector detects a start identifier in the communication protocol. The start identifier indicates the start of a control signal (KS1,...KS4) transmitted in the communication protocol to the subsystem. The control signal behaviour corresponds to the reference signal behaviour in a transmission without disruption. The subsystem generates a correlation value by correlating the received control signal with the reference signal. The correlation value is used to assess the signal distortion of the communication protocol.
