The floating coastal station is a long, narrow pontoon of special construction called platform 1. This platform 1 is moored along the length of the coast in such a way, while being supported by it, to resist the assault of the waves of the sea (or lake) and to absorb their kinetic energy, converting it to electricity. To this end, two important elements are enclosed in pockets 2 under the platform 1: the water and air which are used to carry the kinetic energy of the waves to the electricity generating bridge 6. Thus the water enclosed within the pocket 2 receives the thrust of the waves and moves back and forth in this space, like a piston, transferring the kinetic energy it has received to the enclosed air. Then the air transfers the kinetic energy, which it has received, in the form of a current of air, through the system of air ducts 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 to the gas turbine 6 of the electricity generating bridge where it is converted to electricity. |
