The mains connector plugs into the mains socket 22 of a computer and has a connection 11 for the plug of a cable coupled to the mains supply. The adapter has a number of socket power points 13-15 for connecting to peripherals. Internally the adapter has a current sensor that connects to relay stages that respond and disconnects power when an overload condition is detected.
