PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portal crane for a terminal gear of an escalator capable of safely and smoothly performing crane work of the terminal gear adopted to a high lift escalator to have 1 ton or more weight. SOLUTION: A portal crane 1 for a terminal gear is constituted roughly by a pair of machine room side loading bases 4, 4a mounted on a frame 3 on a machine room side, pair of machine room side leg parts 5, 5a vertically provided respectively on each loading base 4, 4a, first horizontal member 6 arranged in a horizontal direction to bridge the fellow upper end parts of each leg part 5, 5a, footstep side loading base 8 mounted on a frame 7 on a footstep side, pair of footstep side leg parts 9, 9a vertically provided on this loading base 8, second horizontal member 10 arranged in a horizontal direction to bridge the fellow upper end parts of each leg part 9, 9a, three trolley guide members 11, 11a, 11b bridging the fellow both horizontal members 6, 10 to be extended mutually almost in parallel, trolley mounted on each trolley guide member 11 to 11b, and a chain block mounted on each trolley.
