<p>This invention provides a crosslinkable rubber composition comprising a nitrile-containing highly saturated copolymer rubber, a metal salt of an alpha , beta -ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, and an organic peroxide, wherein the nitrile-containing highly saturated copolymer rubber is characterized by having been treated by applying a high shearing force thereto in the presence of an antioxidant so as to reduce its Mooney viscosity by 15 points or greater, by having a Mooney viscosity of 5 to 135 and a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of 3.0 to 5.0, and by showing a Mooney viscosity increase of 10 points or less when it is allowed to stand at room temperature for 30 days after the reduction of its Mooney viscosity. Rubber materials (e.g., belts, rolls and hoses) obtained by crosslinking this composition have improved strength properties.</p> |
