PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing caps provided with a pattern suiting one's taste freely by a simple step. SOLUTION: This method puts cylindrical knitted cap bodies 1a and 1b, open at the bottom and different in color from each other, one on another; makes a preliminary sketch of a pattern on the outer cap body 1a; joins the bodies 1a and 1b by, e.g., a sewing machine running along the pattern contours; and cuts off the seam inside on the cap body 1a, to produce the cap body with the pattern 4. The cap body is then immersed in water kept at around 40 deg.C for 20 to 40 min. for fulling, and fulled cap body 1 is thermally treated in a mold for forming a desired cap, and treated, e.g. for sewing hem by a sewing machine, into the cap A.
