PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waterproof connector that seals an FPC by pinching it with a housing and a cover member, thereby carries out stress relaxation. SOLUTION: This waterproof connector has a housing 4, having an opening 6 and a cover member 10 to close the opening 6. An elastic sealing member 20 is arranged around the opening 6, and a sealing member 20' is formed at a position corresponding thereto in the cover member 10. Terminals 54 are terminated at the end of an FPC, and the terminals 54 are retained by a retaining member 60, so that they are structured as a cable sub-assembly. The cable sub-assembly is mounted in the housing 4 by means of latch engagement through pressing of the retaining member 60. The cover member 10 is so mounted to the housing 4 as to close the opening 6, and the FPC and the opening 6 are sealed by the mutual sealing members 20, 20'. A linear protrusion 94 of the cover member 10 is engaged with a recessed slot 26 of the housing 4, and the FPC is pinched between them and is subjected to stress relaxation.
