摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a predetermined acceleration energy by preventing the leakage of the resonance electromagnetic field to an external of an accelerating cavity by mounting a porous metallic plate, in such manner that it covers the whole inlet part of the accelerating cavity. SOLUTION: This charged particle accelerator comprises a structure, where a metal mesh 9 is attached to the inlet part of a first accelerating cavity 3. High voltage is applied between a cathode 1 and an anode 2. Furthermore, the first accelerating cavity 3 and a second accelerating cavity 4 having the same resonance frequency are connected by a side cavity 5 between the cathode 1 and the anode 2, and the microwave 8 agreed with the resonance frequency of its cavity is input from a waveguide 6 connected to the second accelerating cavity 4. Since the metal mesh 9 is inserted into the inlet of the first accelerating cavity 3, the leakage of the microwave electromangetic field generated in the cavity 3 to an electronic gun side can be prevented. Accordingly, when an electronic beam 7 enters this cavity, the reflection of the beam by the leaked electromagnetic field cannot be found, and the incident beam is accelerated in the first accelerating cavity 3 and the second accelerating cavity 4.
