PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a color cathode-ray tube capable of reducing the function as a stay emission source in electrodes utilized in electron gun thereof, and improving a breakdown strength characteristic thereof. SOLUTION: In a manufacturing method for a cathode-ray tube having a cathode activation process 2 and a knocking process 3 after an exhaust process 1, especially during the cathode activation process 2, high-frequency induction heating is applied to electrodes so as to purge gases from the electrodes, while the purged gases react on an active metal (i.e., Ba) adhering the electrodes to be inactivated. As a result, a function of Ba as a stray emission source is reduced so that the breakdown strength characteristic is improved.
