PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit the reproduction, etc., of a small-sized disk housed in a disk cartridge by a drive device for a large-sized disk cartridge through an adapter and also to unnecessitate the direct touch to the disk with hand. SOLUTION: When the disk cartridge is inserted to the specified position of an insertion part 602, the holding state between an opening/closing cover of the disk cartridge and the main body of a case is released by a 1st unlocking bar 606. After the case main body is drawn out, the opening/closing cover is held in the insertion part by a holding plate 701 of the opening/closing cover. The holding state is releasable by operating a hold releasing bar 731 of the opening/closing cover. The disk incorporated in the disk cartridge is shiftable to the adapter together with the opening/closing cover, and the recording/ reproducing operation is attained by the drive device for the disk cartridge provided with the compatibility with the adapter as to the outer shape.
