The roof slopes down from the rear panel (2) to prevent water getting into the nest. Ladder grooves (4) are formed in a vertical panel to help the bird get out of the nest and through the nest box opening. A concave rear part enables the box to be firmly secured to a tree trunk using wooden nails.
