PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode-ray tube designed by optimizing an outer shape of a portion of a funnel to which a deflecting yoke is attached, in order to provide a sufficient pressure resistance strength and to effectively decreases the deflecting electric power. SOLUTION: A cathode-ray tube includes a panel 3, a funnel 7 which is continuously arranged to the panel 3 and onto which outer periphery a deflecting yoke 5 is arranged, and a neck 11 into which an electron gun 9 is insertingly arranged. The portion of the funnel 7, to which the deflecting yoke 5 is arranged, is formed, such that the closer it is to the side of the panel from the side of the neck, the more the outer shape thereof changes gradually from a circular shape into a non-circular, shape having a maximum diameter in a direction apart from the major axis and the minor axis of the panel 3. The outer shape of the portion of the funnel 7, in which an opening on the panel side of deflecting yoke 5 is located, is formed so as to satisfy the relation 1.0<=rh/rv<=1.3, where rh is the radius in the direction of the major axis of the panel, and rv is the radius in the direction of the minor axis of the panel.
