PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic vending machine which can be prevented merchandise in which a chemical poison or the like is mixed or other foreign matter from being left at a merchandise sales port. SOLUTION: A shutter 13 is locked when a power source of an automatic vending machine is turned on. Then, it is judged whether or not merchandise sales is actually performed and when it is judged that the merchandise sales is actually performed, the lock of the shutter 13 is released. Then, it is judged whether or not a microswitch 19 is turned off, time since the microswitch 19 is turned off is counted and it is judged whether or not this counted time elapses a set time, for example, a minute. After that, when it is judge that a specified time elapses, the state is returned to the original and the shutter 13 is locked again.
