PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out water sealing securely by altering outer force applied to a rubber gasket, and permitting main body projections to be in contact with the compressed surface without interstices regardless of the size of unevennesses. SOLUTION: In a joint of the final caisson 2' in a V-block method, a rubber gasket 1 is laid substantially laterally on each mount surface 21 of the upper side or lower side of a caisson 2 as an underwater construction. Also, in conditions in which distal ends of projections 12, 12 come in contact with a surface to be compressed of the final caisson 2' being opposed with each other, when the rubber gasket 1 is subjected to a primary compression while the final caisson 2' moves in the direction substantially intersecting the longitudinal direction of the projection 12, the projections 12, 12 are fallen by lateral force through its movement, thereby prevent the occurrence of defects such as a failure of the primary water sealing. Thus, even when the unevennesses are large in the mount surface on which the rubber gasket is attached or in the compressed surface to which the rubber gasket is compressed, water sealing can be done securely by a sufficient following property.
