PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound having excellent cell proliferation inhibitory effect based on the specific inhibitory activity of adenylosuccinate synthase, therefore useful as a therapeutic agent for pancreatic cancer, leukemia, etc. SOLUTION: This new compound is shown by formula I [R1 is H, a (substituted)alkyl or (substituted)phenyl; X is O or methylene; Y is O, S or methylene; Z is O or S; wherein when Y and Z are both O, R1 is not H], pref. [2R,3S,4R,5S]-3,4-dihydroxy-2-methylphosphonyloxymethyl-1-oxa-6,8- diazaspiro[4,4]nonane-7,9-dione or the like. The compound of formula I is obtained, for example, by catalytic reduction of a compound of formula II [R7 is a (substituted)phenyl; R8 is a (substituted)alkyl or the like] e.g. [2R,3S,4 R,5S]-3,4-dihydroxy-2-methoxyphenoxyphosphonyloxymethyl-1-oxa-6,8- diazospiro-[4,4]-nonane-7,9-dione} in an inert solvent.
