PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect a small load amount. SOLUTION: From the state of stopping a drum, an application voltage to a motor for rotationally driving the drum is gradually raised by gradually increasing the duty factor of PWM control signals (S1-S4) and the duty factor at the time of reaching 45 rpm which is a rotation speed immediately after the drum starts rapid rotation is stored as A1 (S5). In the case that the load amount is small, since large torque is required for lifting a baffle upwards against gravity acting on laundry mounted on the baffle inside the drum, the application voltage immediately before starting the rotation of the drum depends on the load amount. Thus, by discriminating the A1, the load amount is detected.
