PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely fold a cloth in halves even in the case that a part of the cloths to be successively mounted on a conveyor belt is overlapped with each other. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a carrier 2 for continuously transferring the cloth present on a carrying surface, a first sensor 7a for detecting the front end part of the cloth to be transferred, a lift blade 16 for being projected from the carrying surface and lifting a cloth first half part from the carrying surface correspondingly to the detection of the first sensor, a clamp means 3a for picking up and holding the cloth first half part lifted by the lift blade at the upper part of the carrying surface, a first blowing means 18 for blowing air to the upper surface of the cloth held by the clamp means, a second blowing means 17 for blowing the air to the lower surface of the cloth first half part held by the clamp means, a guide plate 19 for supporting the front end of the cloth first half part blown by the second blowing means at a position separated upwards from the carrying surface from a lower part and a second sensor 7b for detecting the rear end part of the cloth to be transferred and releasing the holding of the cloth first half part by the clamp means.
