The press section of a papermaking machine, to force water out of the wet pulp and form a web, has press rollers (4,5) to give a continuous press action on the web (1) between two press blankets (9,11) passing through the gap between the rollers. A continuous pressure belt (6) passes over one roller (4) and through the roller gap. At least one tensioner roller (7) guides the pressure belt (6) so that its alignment gives a path for the web (1) partially round the other roller (5) before it passes through the press zone (8). The tensioner roller (7) position is adjusted on a vertical plane. The guide roller assembly has a control roller (15) between the tensioner (7) and press (4) rollers, in the direction (3) of pressure belt (6) movement, fixed on one side and with adjustment on a horizontal plane on the other side. The press roller (4), which takes the pressure belt (6) round it, can slide on a path coaxial to the other press roller (5).
