The device has a housing (10) with an air inlet (11). A second air outlet (13) is arranged directly upstream of the first air outlet (12), as seen in the air-flow direction, and is arranged in a plane which is aligned at right angles to the plane of the first air outlet (12). A pivot flap (16) is arranged in the region of the air outlets. For the air to be deflected, while at the same time being split up within a constricted overall volume, in the region of the two air outlets (12,13), the housing (10) has a third air outlet (14) which is located in a plane which is orthogonal to the planes of the other air outlets (12,13). The pivot flap is designed such that, in one pivot end position, it only partially covers the opening cross section of the first air outlet (12) and forms an air element which deflects towards the second and third air outlets some of that quantity of air which flows from the air inlet (11) to the first air outlet (12).
