Acetal group-containing organopolysiloxane contains units having three different hydrocarbon-based groups in them, giving good solubility in low polarity media. Acetal group-containing organopolysiloxane contains units of formula (I): RaAbSiO4-a-b/2 (I) R = 1-18C hydrocarbon; A = group of formula (II); R<1> = 1-6C hydrocarbon; R<2> = 2-4C hydrocarbon; R<3> and R<4> = H or R; R<5> = R or R<4> and R<5> form a group R<6> together; R<6> = 2-10C hydrocarbon; v and w = 0 or an integer; where v+w = 1-16 s and t = 0 or 1 and s + t = 1 or 2; y = 0 or 1 and x + y = 1 or 2; a-0 or 1-3; b = 0, 1 or 2; and a+3 = at most 3 and at least one group A is present.
