PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately record a still picture by providing a control means which validates an instruction by a variable power instructing means when an instruction by a still picture photographing instructing means does not come and invalidates the instruction by the variable power instructing means when the instruction by the still picture photographing instructing means comes. SOLUTION: A system controlling circuit 111 outputs an output signal from a still picture fetching switch 112 and a variable power lens control switch 113 to each part. When the switch 112 is turned on, an image when flash light is emitted is recorded in an image memory 105. In such a case, the circuit 111 nullifies the state of the switch 113. Thus, when the guide number control of a flashing device 110 is performed while working with the variable power operation of a variable power lens 102, it is possible to prevent a guide number from being changed during flash light emission and to appropriately expose still picture photographing utilizing the flashing device 110 by nullifying the control operation of the variable power lens 102 when a still picture is fetched.
