PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain proper alarm detection/release with a simple configuration with respect to an alarm detector. SOLUTION: The alarm detector is provided with a plurality of alarm detection sections 30 that detect an alarm of its own detection rate according to a received timing signal TI, generate a timing signal TO with a multiple of an optional number (n) of period on the basis o the timing signal TI and output it externally. Terminals for the output/input timing signals TO, TI are connected sequentially in cascade among the alarm detection sections 30 so as to allow each of the alarm detection sections 301-303 to detect an alarm at different error rates respectively. Preferably, the alarm detection sections 301-303 use timing signals 4T, 40T, 400T with a multiple (n) of period generated by themselves so as to detect release of alarm signals ALD1, ALD2, ALD3 detected by themselves.
